Matt Collins

Matt Collins has served in senior leadership roles for several large regional homebuilders over the last 25 years, with a special focus on agility, systems, and operational improvement. He first earned his construction knowledge from the ground up as a sales associate and eventual manager at one of the nation’s top five building materials supplier. Matt then served as a VP of Operations, VP of Homebuilding, and Chief Operating Officer for several large regional homebuilders in PA, VA, and MS. In addition to working directly in these roles, Matt has also worked alongside many homebuilders across the country as a consultant - first with Shinn Consulting, one of the nation’s foremost authorities on homebuilding operations. As a Senior Consultant, he focused on streamlining operations, strengthening trade relations, improving quality, cycle time, customer satisfaction, and profitability. His engagements included facilitating biannual benchmark meetings, direct consulting opportunities with executives and their teams, instructing in educational seminars, and keynote speaking engagements for national conferences. Now, as the Managing Member of The Mainspring Group, Matt and his team, work with some of the brightest and innovative homebuilders in the country. The Mainspring Group is a specialty firm focused on helping private regional homebuilders identify and take the right next steps on their own journey toward operational excellence.
