Meet the Team: Hector Borrego

BT MTM Hector Borrego Header V2

Our newest Meet the Team blog features Hector Borrego, training and documentation specialist for BuildTools at ECI Software Solutions. We sat down with Hector to learn more about his role within the team.

ECI: Describe your role in 50 words or less.

Hector Borrego (HB): In my role, I make sure we have all the necessary documentation, such as articles, video guides, webinars and more created and up to date for our customers and internal users to guide themselves when working with customers.

ECI: What and where did you study?

HB: I initially studied to be a computer technician/network support specialist after high school. I went to college in Miami.

ECI: Tell us about your background and the path that led you to your current role.

HB: I've always been involved in IT and customer service. This led me to BuildTools almost 10 years ago and to move a bit away from IT and into app support.

ECI: What does your day-to-day work life look like?

HB: Busy! There's always something to do at BuildTools; technology is ever evolving and constantly changing, and this applies to software all the same. New updates and bug fixes take time to test, implement, and update our guides.

ECI: What advice would you give to someone just starting in your industry? Any words of wisdom?

HB: You don't have to know all the answers, but you know how to find them.

ECI: What excites you most about working within this industry?

HB: That it's constantly changing and growing.

ECI: What do you find most challenging about working within this industry?

HB: The fact that software is constantly changing means we also must adapt and make sure we’re giving our customers the information they need to know, kept knowledgeable as to what is new or has changed.

ECI: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned since you began your career?

HB: Never think you know something, even if you do. Always double and triple-check.

ECI: Since you started working in the industry, what changes have you witnessed?

HB: I’ve seen immense changes. I've seen customers go from rolodex to cell phones, from bulky computers to tablets, and from landlines to hundreds of ways to communicate today.

ECI: What do you enjoy doing when you're not at work?

HB: Family, travel, hiking.

ECI: What book would you recommend for anyone to add to their ‘must-read list?

HB: I like sci-fi, so I'll recommend "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir.
