This month, we feature Amber Cooley, regional sales consultant at ECI Software Solutions. We sat down with Amber to learn more about her role within the manufacturing team.
Amber Cooley (AC): I use software to help manufacturers streamline operations and improve efficiency. By understanding my customers' business challenges, I provide consultative sales support that aims to reduce costs, boost profits, and enable long-term growth.
AC: My passion for solving complex problems and my drive to make a meaningful impact naturally led me to helping manufacturers implement scalable ERP systems. With over a decade in technical integrations and consultative sales, I’ve worked across fast-paced industries where aligning technology with business goals is key.
AC: Embrace curiosity. Learn the language of both business and technology. The best consultants don’t just sell, they solve. Build trust, ask insightful questions, and remember that empathy and preparation often outweigh pitch decks.
AC: It's incredibly rewarding to see manufacturers transform their operations. Helping them eliminate inefficiencies and gain visibility across departments directly impacts their bottom line. It's fulfilling to be a catalyst for real, measurable change.
AC: Adapting to the varied levels of technical maturity across clients. No two manufacturers are alike, so tailoring communication and demonstrating value without overwhelming them can be a balancing act.
AC: Authenticity and preparation build lasting relationships. People remember how you made them feel; when trust is earned, everything else flows more naturally.
AC: There’s been a significant shift toward cloud-based, scalable ERP platforms and an increasing emphasis on data-driven decision-making. Customers now expect consultative guidance. Not just software sales.
AC: I recharge by exploring the outdoors—rock climbing, hiking new trails, and spending quality time with my kids and pets. I also enjoy reading books that challenge conventional thinking and offer fresh perspectives.
ECI: What book would you recommend for anyone to add to their ‘must-read list?
AC: “Barking Up the Wrong Tree” by Eric Barker. I appreciated the different perspectives on productivity and success, along with the compelling stories that bring each insight to life. It’s a refreshing, thought-provoking read.
