Making Your Job Shop Software Work FOR YOU

Tech worker on a workstation monitoring job shop software

You've spent years planning and developing your shop. Employees are used to the processes you’ve made work: the parts you’ve made and the services you provided brought revenue through your door. You’ve been successful because of your unique processes.

We understand that your business is unique. Because of this, trying to find one solution that fits all manufacturers doesn’t make sense.

A solution should grow with you

Your current manufacturing solution may have helped you grow your business over the years, yet you now need it to handle increasing workloads and data volumes. You may also need specific reports to give you deeper operational insight as you grow.

You spend hours tailoring your specific workflows to your solution and performing workarounds to cover the features you lack. It can feel like you’re spending more time fixing your solution than it was worth. The solution made for job shops “just like yours” has now suffocated your unique processes that have worked for years into a box. While you can use almost all the features, you will find that your shop needs a little more flexibility since every job shop operates differently, with unique processes, customer demands, and production workflows. Is it time to completely ditch your solution and find something new?

Your saving grace: Custom development

Maybe not! If your shop solution offers custom development, there is still hope! Custom development can ensure that your software continues to meet the evolving demands of the job shop. This level of customization leads to more efficient operations and a significant reduction in manual work and errors. Scalability ensures long-term cost-effectiveness, as there’s no need to constantly invest in new software solutions.

Instead of cramming your reliable workflows into a puzzle that doesn’t seem to fit, working with a custom development team allows you to add the flexibility and functionality your shop needs to your manufacturing solution.

Let’s say you have an innovative idea that will give your shop a competitive edge, developing a solution that gets orders to the shop floor and out to customers faster or one that delivers an improved customer experience. A strong customer development team will be able to bring your innovations to life.

We strive to work with you to implement unique features and capabilities that are unavailable in off-the-shelf solutions. This innovation can lead to new business opportunities and a stronger market position.

A unique solution for a unique job shop

Custom development of JobBOSS² can tailor the software to your shop’s unique workflows and specific needs, ensuring seamless integration, increased efficiency, scalability for growing workloads, and enhanced reporting capabilities, ultimately providing a competitive edge and improved operations.

As part of the professional services team, the custom development team can help you improve your inventory, order, quoting, and reporting needs. Work with this team to achieve the necessary modifications and updates without relying on third-party vendors.

Below are the top ten custom development applications and reports requested from shops around the country to give you an idea of what we could do for your shop:

  1. Job Grouping Utility: his app allows customers to group several jobs that have similar routing steps or will pass through the same Work Center, by tying jobs to a single dummy job with the common routing steps. Customers log all their time at each step onto this dummy job and use the "splitter" portion of the utility to divide the time from the dummy job's time ticket across the real jobs proportionally, creating actual time tickets for those real jobs. This is particularly useful for companies doing nesting and working with a nesting software provider, although it's not required for it to work.
  2. Serial Number Generator: This app creates serial numbers for jobs.
  3. RFQ Creation Utility: This custom utility will automatically create Vendor RFQ's based on material requirements from Quotes and/or Estimates. The utility has various filter options and creates one RFQ for each Vendor for all material required from that Vendor based on the Quote or Estimate. It is also possible to create a RFQ for Outside Service requirements.
  4. ACH Payment Export Utility (Coming Soon)
  5. Consolidated Financials Reporting: This custom report created consolidated financials for multiple companies.
  6. Price/Cost Markup Utility: This custom will mark up the Sell Prices on Parts or the Purchasing Costs on Parts. In addition, the Markup Pct field itself on the Part is then also updated accordingly based on the new Price/Cost calculated by the utility.
  7. Tooling Vending Machine Job Costs Import Utility: This app will import Misc Job Costs from a specifically formatted tab-delimited .txt file typically supplied by tool crib vending machines.
  8. Shipment Summary with Dollars Report: This custom report will show the dollar value of the items shipped based on the price from the job.
  9. Receiving Summary with Dollars Report: This custom report will show the dollar value of the items received based on the cost from the PO.
  10. Purchase Order Showing Vendor Part Number Report: This custom report is a PO report that pulls the Part Number from User-Text1 if the Vendor is the Primary Vendor, User-Text2 if the Vendor is the Secondary Vendor, or User-Text3 if the Vendor is the Alternate Vendor for the Part on the PO.

With custom developments, a single solution can be created to fit every need of your manufacturing business. If your current solution commands conformity to work, maybe a solution like JobBOSS² is what your team needs. Bring your ideas to life. Make your job shop solution work for you instead of working for it!
