Why you should write for the Big Ideas for SMBs blog
Expand your reach
Guest post blogging for ECI allows you to tap into new audiences and expose your content to a broader demographic of small and medium-sized businesses. Contributing to our established platform allows you to access readers who otherwise wouldn't have discovered your business or blog.
Build your brand
Establishing yourself as a thought leader or industry expert is crucial for personal branding. Contributing valuable content to our blog enhances your credibility and expertise in your niche. This can increase collaboration, speaking engagements, and partnerships, ultimately elevating your brand presence.

By blogging with ECI, you can include backlinks to your professional or personal blog or website within the content and/or author bio. Every blog article on ECI’s website is accompanied by social media promotion and sometimes email promotion. Social promotion will tag your personal LinkedIn profile and your business’s LinkedIn profile to expand reach and encourage higher engagement.
Guidelines for writing:
- Original content – While guest blogging is an asset, duplicating content across platforms can harm your SEO efforts and ours. Guest blog articles must be original content and written for our blog's audience. Oh, and make sure it's awesome!
- Simple language – Most of our readers do not consider themselves tech-savvy, so keep the language simple, avoiding jargon and buzz words when possible.
- Non-promotional content - Do not submit promotional content! This blog inspires, educates, and guides SMBs, not sells a product. Including a link to an educational asset is OK
- Backlinks – You can include two backlinks to non-gated content on your website within the copy of the article and a link to your website in the author’s bio.
- Keywords - Use the target keyword in the title, opening paragraph, and throughout the piece. Consider adding variations on the keywords in your subheads.
- Relevant Stats - Any statistics cited must link to the source and be under two years old.
- Images - Please do not include any stock images. Our ECI design team will handle sourcing a hero image for the blog. You may include original images and screenshots if necessary for the piece.
- Final content decisions are at our content team’s discretion – Our content team reserves the right to adapt your guest blog content for search optimization, comprehensiveness, calls-to-action, and accuracy. In the case of a significant edit, such as removing a section, we will communicate those changes beforehand.
Formatting Tips
- Use H2s, H3s, and H4s to organize your content and use sentence case (first word capitalized, not all the words).
- Keep paragraphs short.
- Add bulleted lists whenever possible.
- Always include an introduction and a conclusion.
