Owings Patterns was looking to become ISO-certified. Unfortunately, manual processes were getting in the way of the certification. Sam Owings, quality manager at Owing Patterns, said the company lacked visibility into jobs by scrap and margin, was over-purchasing inventory, and had slow and cumbersome quoting.

While attempting ISO certification, Owing's auditor asked if the company stored data centrally. After a successful JobBOSS² implementation and Sam's leadership, Owings Pattern got up and running in a few months and eliminated the auditor's concerns. Sam said he used the training videos to familiarize his team with the foundations and then used the consulting hours to answer any remaining questions.

Owings Patterns has used the cost reports within JobBOSS² to gain control over pricing. The reports give Sam visibility into high-scrap jobs. "We've seen about a 15% increase in profitability on repeat jobs," says Sam.

The shop's purchasing process has increased efficiency by around 75% since JobBOSS² automates the purchasing manager's role. This change reduced GS&A, and Sam has redirected this salary to needed labor. The quoting process has also been cut in half and is more accurate. "My operators can see how they are performing across the quote," said Sam. Additionally, Owings Patterns has its ISO 9001 certification, and the shop's data resides safely within the JobBOSS² cloud.
